Backpack, laptop worth $1,460 stolen from library

A white MacBook laptop computer was stolen around 11 p.m. Wednesday from the Main Library, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

A 20-year-old student was studying in the east wing of the second floor when he was approached by a woman. She asked the student for help fixing her laptop, and when the two were walking away from his desk, the woman said she no longer needed the student’s help.

When he returned to the spot, his backpack and computer were missing, McGlothian-Taylor said. The value of the loss is estimated at $1,460.

The male student did not see who took his bag and computer. The woman who asked for his help is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a large build and brown hair, McGlothian-Taylor said.
