A 45-year-old Lansing man was arraigned Tuesday for allegedly stealing copper wire, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
Delano L. Lynch was charged with larceny between $1,000 and $20,000 and with failure to obey a police officer by East Lansing 54-B District Court Judge Richard D. Ball.
Lynch and a 40-year-old Lansing woman were arrested by MSU police officers who saw them stealing the wire, McGlothian-Taylor said.
The officers were on patrol around 3:15 a.m. Monday when they noticed a black 1999 Chevrolet S10 pickup parked in the southeast corner of a parking lot off East Crescent Road. The suspects had broken into a fenced area and had cut copper wire from spools.
The value of the loss is estimated at $4,543.
