Gas prices up eight cents

AAA Michigan reported Monday that the average price of gas in the Lansing/East Lansing area increased eight cents from last week.

The cost for a gallon of gas in the area rose to an average of $3.43 this week, up nearly 61 cents from this time last year.

The price of gas statewide jumped 5.6 cents to an average of $3.43 per gallon, or nearly 60 cents more than this time last year.
