Your guide for what to do in and around East Lansing

FILM

The East Lansing Film Festival is going on through March 30 at Wells Hall, the East Lansing Hannah Community Center and Celebration Cinema. Visit www.elff.com for more information.

FRIDAY: The following movies debut on the big screen: "Inside Man" starring Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster; "Stay Alive" starring Samaire Armstrong and Frankie Muniz; and "Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector" starring Larry the Cable Guy.


MUSIC

TONIGHT: Hot Pink Karma, Skeletons & the Girl Faced Boys, Headlights, Metal Hearts and Lone Wolf and Cub at Mac's Bar, 2700 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing. Doors open at 8 p.m. The cost is $6 for 21 and over and $8 for those 18-20.

SATURDAY: Green Screen performs at 9 p.m., The Pop Project at 10 p.m., The Recital at 11 p.m. and The Casionauts at midnight, all in the International Center.

Rainer Maria, Scout Niblett, Those Transatlantics and Gracer at Mac's Bar in Lansing. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the cost is $10 in advance for those 18 and older.


ART

FRIDAY: The Student Art Exhibit runs from 8 p.m. to midnight on the second floor of the Union. In addition to the student art, hip-hop dance lessons will be offered and Spartan Soul, Ladies First, jazz band, rappers, vocalists, pianists and poets will all perform.

SATURDAY: "They Die In Movies" exhibition opens at 6 p.m. in (SCENE) Metrospace, 303 Abbott Road. The exhibition is a documentary of the making of a movie using two forms of photography. The show opens with a free public reception featuring live performances by acoustic singer Rai and Lansing-based indie rock group Canada.


MISCELLANEOUS

FRIDAY: MSU Museum's 11th annual Wine Tasting Benefit runs from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Kellogg Center. More than 100 varieties of wine will be featured in an informal, walk-around setup, with representatives on hand to answer questions. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Museum Store and Goodrich's Shop-Rite in East Lansing.

MONDAY: The Brand Name Warehouse Clothing Sale begins at 10 a.m. in the Union parlor rooms. Women's and men's brand-name clothing will be sold at discount prices. The event runs daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Friday.

TUESDAY: The Student Artist Jewelry Sale runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Union concourse. Handmade charm bracelets, necklaces and other beaded jewelry will be on sale.

WEDNESDAY: Open Mic Night at the Union from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Participants sign up to perform upon arrival.
