Spartans rewind

• Men's (13-4, 1-2 Big Ten)

After a painful loss on Sunday, the Spartans brought home their first conference victory at Wednesday's game against Indiana.


• The No. 14 Spartans lost 82-63 to the No. 21 Wisconsin team, marking their second consecutive Big Ten loss.

TOP MSU SCORER Guard Shannon Brown, 31 points

TOP WISCONSIN SCORER Guard Kammron Taylor, 27 points

MSU center Paul Davis scored two points, the lowest total since his freshman year.

Wisconsin converted 15 MSU turnovers into 21 points.

The Spartans did hold the rebounding advantage, 40-35.


• The Spartans notched their first conference win against the No. 9 Hoosiers improving their overall record to 13-4.

TOP INDIANA SCORER Forward Marco Killingsworth, 27

Davis' 10 rebounds helped him achieve his ninth double-double of the season.

Forward Matt Trannon played a career high of 33 minutes, starting the game at the power forward spot.

The Spartans carry a 7-0 run at home this season.


• Women's (12-4, 2-1 Big Ten, as of Wednesday)

The MSU women's basketball team is learning the lessons of the road, as they've completed two of the three back-to-back road games this week.


• After defeating No. 10 Rutgers, the No. 9 Spartans fell to the unranked Hawkeyes, 75-64.

TOP MSU SCORER Forward Liz Shimek, 16

TOP IOWA SCORER Center Megan Skouby, 27

At the half, MSU held a 29-27 lead, but couldn't stop the Hawkeyes players, which included Skouby, who scored 19 points in the second half.

Shimek, who led the team in points, also grabbed the team high of 15 rebounds.

MSU was 4-for-16 in 3-point shooting during the game.
