CHEAP EATS: Club Cappuccino ($2.92)

February 20, 2003
A hot dog, soft drink and bag of chips can be purchased at Club Cappuccino in the International Center for $2.92.

This week, we prove you never have to venture too far from your classroom to find something to satisfy the pangs of a hungry stomach - and for less than $5.

The food: The Hot Dog Combo. An everyday special featuring chips, a hot dog and a small drink. Turkey dogs also are available.

Total with tax: $2.92.

Place: Club Cappuccino, International Center Cross Roads Food Court.

Hours: 7 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-9 p.m. Sunday. The food court is open until 1 a.m. for Campus Center events on alternating weekends.

Delivery: None

Xtras: Condiments such as ketchup, mustard and relish are available to top off the hot dog. Spartan Cash is accepted.

Our thoughts: It's a hot dog, a bag of chips and a soda. It's a self-explanatory meal that's easy to scarf down in less than 10 minutes; ideal for those who have a tight class schedule. The chips were crunchy, the soda was carbonated and the hot dog was fresh off the rotating grill. The meal itself might be considered more of a snack, depending on your current appetite. It might not be the healthy route, but it sure fits a tighter college budget.
