While many students are sledding and sipping eggnog, the MSU womens basketball team wont have as much time to enjoy the break aspect of winter break.
The Spartans (7-1) face two more nonconference foes during break before opening up the Big Ten season at 2 p.m. Dec. 30 against Indiana at Breslin Center.
The road to the Big Ten opener features two speed bumps in the forms of Wisconsin-Green Bay and the Providence Friars.
The Spartans head back to East Lansing on Dec. 21 to face the Friars in the Spartans final tuneup before Big Ten play.
The 7-1 opening record and current three-game winning streak hasnt come without big effort and tight moments. The Spartan wins over Detroit-Mercy, Marquette and Oakland were by a combined five points, with all three coming down to the final seconds.
Junior forward Syreeta Bromfield and sophomore forward Julie Pagel should continue to lead the Spartans and give them balance on the perimeter and in the paint.
Both nearly average double-doubles in points and rebounds, with Bromfield dropping 16.4 points and eight boards a contest and Pagel averaging 9.4 points and 6.9 rebounds.
