After edging out Detroit on Wednesday night, the MSU womens basketball team will take on another intrastate team, Marquette, at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
The Spartans (5-1) are coming off their last-second, 62-61 decision against the Titans in Detroit.
Junior forward Syreeta Bromfield led the team with 25 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
Bromfield also led the team in MSUs 60-52 victory over Monmouth on Nov. 23, but other Spartans have shown the ability to lead the team as well.
Freshman guard Kristin Haynie put up 21 points against Arkansas State on Nov. 20 and junior guard Vnemina Reese scored 20 points Saturday against Florida International.
But the Golden Eagles (2-2) will look to counter those numbers with a high-scoring duo that will attempt to overcome the Spartan defense.
Guard Kristi Johnson leads Marquette with 10.5 points per game and 10 three-pointers through four games. Forward Rachel Klug has averaged 10 points per game through four.
Sundays game will be the first contest between the two teams.
