Police briefs 10/16/00

Two men were arrested during a Campus Center event at the International Center early Saturday morning, MSU police Sgt. Brian McDaniel said.One individual was 18 years old and the other was 23 years old, but neither is an MSU student. Police were brought into the food court area where the altercation took place when the two began fighting. They were using chairs set up for the event as their weapons, he said.Police cleared the other patrons from the area and arrested the two men. They were later released, McDaniel said.

  • Some time between 4 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday, 21 folding chairs were stolen from the Red Cedar and Chestnut roads intersection, McDaniel said.The chairs had been set up along with a tent by a rental company the night before the Homecoming football game, but when the group returned early Saturday morning to finish, several chairs were missing, he said.The chairs were valued at $315. Police have no suspects.
