No occupants found from car submerged in Red Cedar River

The East Lansing Police Department and East Lansing Fire Departments responded to a vehicle submerged in the Red Cedar River at about midnight Friday morning near the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Hagadorn Road.

According to a press release issued by the East Lansing Police Department, no occupants were found after emergency responders checked the interior of the vehicle.

Canine units from both East Lansing and MSU Police departments searched the surrounding shoreline for potential victims, but no occupants of the car were located.

The car, which appeared to be a dark colored Buick, was towed out of the river at about 3 a.m. Friday.

The registered owner of the vehicle has been accounted for, according to the press release.

The incident still is under investigation by the East Lansing Police Department. Any witnesses or those with knowledge of the incident are asked to call the department’s tip line at (877) 357-3847.
