Former MSU basketball target linked to FBI arrests of NCAA assistant coaches
Brian Bowen, former MSU basketball target and five star recruit, is linked to FBI arrests of NCAA assistant coaches Tuesday morning, first reported by Tom Winter of NBC.
Bowen was allegedly bribed $100,000 to play basketball at Louisville, where he ended up committing to play basketball this past June over other schools such as MSU and Arizona.
The FBI announced on Tuesday morning that four NCAA basketball coaches are facing federal charges for a corrupting the NCAA. Those four coaches are Auburn’s Chuck Person, Oklahoma State’s Lamont Evans, Arizona’s Book Richardson and USC’s Tony Bland, according to court documents.
There were 10 people charged in total with these charges, with the other six being members of a major international sportswear company.
2017 Champions Classic tickets go on sale
MSU Athletics announced on Monday morning that tickets for the 2017 Champions Classic are now on sale. Tickets start at $50 and can be purchased here.
The seventh annual Champions Classic will take place at the United Center in Chicago, and feature the MSU vs. Duke and Kentucky vs. Kansas.
The battle between the Spartans and Blue Devils will start at 7 p.m., with the Jayhawks and Wildcats game to tip off after the conclusion of MSU vs. Duke.
MSU is 3-3 all time in the Champions Classic and 0-2 against Duke in the Champions Classic.
MSU hockey season tickets go on sale
Hockey season tickets are now on sale for students, MSU announced Tuesday. Season tickets cost $170, while other plans are available.
Those other ticket plans are a Spartan Saturday plan that gets tickets to all six games on Saturday's this year and a Pick Six package, where you can pick any six games this season.

The Spartans are coming off a historically bad season, finishing with a 7-24-4 record. The Spartans also brought in Danton Cole as the new head coach, since former head coach Tom Anastos stepped down last spring.
MSU volleyball takes down two top five opponents, Autumn Bailey wins weekly award

The MSU volleyball team had a dominating weekend, beating Big Ten opponents No. 1 Minnesota and No. 3 Wisconsin on the road to open up Big Ten play.
Outside hitter Autumn Bailey was also named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week because of this weekend, coming away with 4.75 digs per frame and a 97.7 percent reception rate. She also added on 3.75 kills per set.
The now No. 16 Spartans are 9-2 (2-0 in Big Ten play) and will play Maryland this Friday at 7 p.m. at Jenison Field House, and then will host Ohio State on Saturday. That game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
MSU men’s soccer moves up in rankings
After a draw with Maryland last Friday, MSU moved up from the No. 6 ranking to the No. 4 ranking and received two first place votes. The Spartans next game is Wednesday at Akron.

MSU women’s soccer loses to Minnesota, looks to get first Big Ten win
The Spartans lost to Big Ten opponent, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 7-1 in Minneapolis. This pushed MSU’s record to 4-7 on the season and 0-4 in Big Ten play.
The Spartans will continue Big Ten play this Friday as they host the 6-3-1 Nebraska Cornhuskers at DeMartin Stadium under the lights. The Cornhuskers also don’t have a Big Ten win this season.
MSU field hockey wins two close games over weekend, set to play top ranked Big Ten opponent
MSU field hockey also swept their opponents this past weekend, beating Miami (Oh) 3-2 Friday night and beating Big Ten opponent Ohio State, 2-1 in a shootout.
The Spartans will next play No. 3 Penn State this Friday night at Ralph Young Field, with the game scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
MSU baseball wraps up fall exhibitions
MSU baseball played their final fall exhibition game of the fall right before the football game at McLane Baseball Stadium playing the same opponent, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
They vanquished the Irish, 16-7, and will look to continue this play into next season. Their schedule has not been released yet.
MSU women’s golf dominates on home turf
The women’s golf team held the Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West this past Sunday and Monday, and placing first both days shooting a total of 859 strokes, which was 49 better than Toledo who finished second.
The Spartans will next play in the Windy City Intercollegiate in Highland Park, Illinois next Monday and Tuesday.
Spartans in the NFL Week 3 edition
After what was one of the better weekends in the NFL in recent memory, with close games and nail biters happening in what seemed every game, let’s take a look around the league to see how some former Spartans did.
Le’Veon Bell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers: In what was a surprise 23-17 loss for the Steelers against the Chicago Bears, Bell still had a decent performance rushing 15 times for 61 yards and one touchdown, while catching six of seven targets for 37 yards. Bell has rushed 52 times for 180 yards and one touchdown, with 13 receptions for 56 receiving yards so far this season.
Montae Nicholson, SS, Washington Redskins: Nicholson got his second career NFL start in week three, picking off Oakland’s Derek Carr in the opening drive of the game. Nicholson would only total one tackle throughout the remainder of the game. Nicholson has three total tackles on the season so far.
Trae Waynes, CB, Minnesota Vikings: Waynes like Nicholson, also had an interception, picking off Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston late in the second quarter in a 34-17 win for the Vikings. Waynes also had two tackles against the Bucs, making his tackle total 15 on the season.
