Student assaulted, robbed outside Spartan Village apartment

March 6, 2015

An 18-year-old female student was punched, kicked and beaten with a baseball bat by three other females at 2:50 a.m. on March 6 outside of her Spartan Village apartment, according to an MSU police statement.

The victim was prompted to leave her apartment, located on the 1600 block of Spartan Village Apartments near Crescent Road, by a phone call from one of the suspects, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Outside, she was assaulted by the suspects as she fled back to her apartment. The victim's phone was stolen and her car was damaged during the attack.

Friends later transported her to Sparrow Hospital, where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects, three college-aged females, are not thought to have affiliation with MSU, according to the statement.

The case is under investigation by MSU police.
