I-96 shooter Raulie Casteel was convicted of terrorism and other gun charges Wednesday afternoon in Livingston County Circuit Court.
Casteel shot at 24 cars during October 2012 along the I-96 corridor. He testified that he suffered from delusional thoughts and paranoia before and during the rampage.
He was found guilty of terrorism for 23 incidents, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon and five weapon-related charges.
“Raulie Casteel committed acts of violence that terrorized our state in unimaginable ways, and today the victims of his shooting spree received justice,” Attorney General Bill Schuette said in a statement. “Schools changed bus routes, commuters took back roads to and from work, and sports fans feared traveling to weekend games.”
The MSU alumnus could face life in prison.
