Park employees told police they saw Cooper walking alone near park bathrooms around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. When one employee came back around 1:15, Cooper was found laying face-down on the grass and had no pulse.

He was then given CPR taken to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, where he was pronounced dead at 2:40 p.m. Sunday.

Murphy said an autopsy of Cooper’s body is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Police also are awaiting the results of toxicology reports.
