Okemos resident Connor McCowan, 18, was arraigned at about 3:30 p.m. in 55th District Court in Mason for allegedly stabbing nutritional sciences senior Andrew Singler to death.
He currently is being held without bond in the Ingham County Jail and faces life in prison.
According to Meridian Township police, Singler was pronounced dead at Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital on Saturday after being stabbed in the early morning hours.
Meridian Township police Sgt. Andrew McCready said Singler was acquaintances with his attacker.
A pretrial conference has been scheduled for March 5 and a preliminary examination, which determines if enough evidence is present to move forward to trial, is scheduled for March 7.
McCowan’s lawyer, Chris Bergstrom, declined to comment on the case.
