Open your mind to other people's ideals
Being a political intern in Washington, D.C. this summer, I have gained valuable skills that go beyond the political realm. Besides becoming more knowledgeable in how our government works by observing it firsthand, I have gained skills that enable me to interact and peacefully coexist with many of those on the other side of the aisle. Having a roommate that comes from a different world and generally being surrounded by people who have different beliefs than me has strengthened my abilities to speak about political matters in a civil way.
College experience bigger than education
When people used to tell me that college would be “the best times of my life,” I would halfheartedly agree and then continue on with my day. For the past three years of college, I have worked day and night, weekday and weekend, to ensure that my final grades were to my liking. I have passed up party invitations, free tickets to sporting events, concerts and opportunities to travel out of town.
Graduates key to Detroit's revival
Daydreaming during lecture is not an uncommon occurrence. Our daydreams can be anything ranging from minor thoughts such as what we are going to eat for lunch to deeper topics, such as what we will end up doing with our lives.
