MSU heads to Northwestern for two games

Taking notes from two road losses to Iowa last weekend, the MSU softball team will remain on the road ­— playing a doubleheader against Northwestern on Today — setting out to accomplish the same goals it had before the weekend: play tough infield defense.

Red Wings will look for health, consistency

The most beautiful, exciting and intense two-month stretch of the year begins when the NHL playoffs kick off with the Detroit Red Wings hosting the Phoenix Coyotes tonight at 7 p.m. on Versus and FOX Sports Detroit. For the next two weeks, viewers will be able to enjoy three or four games on most nights as the field gets whittled down by half and the true contenders separate themselves from the pack.

Track runs well in Arizona

The MSU men and women’s track and field program ran well in its second outdoor meet of the season this weekend, competing in the Sun Angel Track Classic in Tempe, Ariz.

Jacquie Joseph is throwing out previous Big Ten matchups, tough losses and even solid victories. The MSU softball head coach doesn’t care what her team has done in the past — regardless of how well or how poorly it played — and is focusing on the present and winning one game at a time.

MSU lineman returns to field after fighting cancer

MSU offensive lineman Arthur Ray Jr. has been added to the active spring roster Thursday after undergoing a bout with bone cancer. His return to the football field is complete after the NCAA granted a waiver on his behalf and he was scheduled to practice Thursday.
