When Angela Morley woke up Thursday morning, she realized study time for finals was almost gone. The senior middle and the rest of the MSU volleyball team left Thursday night for South Bend, Ind., for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Rogers hauls in more postseason honors

The postseason awards just keep rolling in for MSU's record-breaking wide receiver Charles Rogers. The American Football Coaches Association named Rogers to its 25-man team following a season in which he caught an MSU record 68 passes for 1,351 yards and 13 touchdowns.

After returning from the Great Alaska Shootout with a fifth-place finish, men's basketball head coach Tom Izzo wasn't happy. So he called on the Izzone to give the Spartans an extra boost against Virginia in a mass e-mail. "I am asking each and every member of the Izzone to take a personal interest in the outcome of this game by rocking Breslin Center like it has never been rocked before," the e-mail read. Officials optimistic about improvements to Spartan stadium

University engineer Bob Nestle said the MSU Board of Trustees plans to name an architect for the construction of luxury suites, club seats and a club to Spartan Stadium at its Friday meeting.HNTB would not start the renovations until further studies assessing the feasibility and costs of making the additions are completed.

The MSU volleyball team (19-11) anxiously awaited its fate for the NCAA Tournament and let out a thunderous roar Sunday night when they saw the bracket they were placed in. The off-court show featured mobs of children cheering on the MSU women's basketball team. Children swarm Breslin to learn, take in game

Today at noon thousands of fourth- and fifth-graders will flock to Breslin Center to watch the MSU women's basketball team take on Kent State. The event is part of the "When I Grow Up" program and is sponsored by the Michigan Education Savings Program.

Weekend trip leaves team feeling confident

After back-to-back weeks of riding home on a deathly silent bus, the MSU hockey players were finally cheery enough to chatter as they returned from a road series this weekend, freshman left wing David Booth said. For a struggling team, getting three points in the College Hockey Showcase spawns such liveliness. On the ice, the Spartans let their play do the talking - tying 5-5 at Minnesota on Friday and winning 2-1 in overtime at Wisconsin on Saturday.

Another weekend of Spartan volleyball brought another split, but this time it earned the team a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans will face George Mason in the first round of the tournament in South Bend, Ind. MSU (19-11 overall, 11-9 Big Ten) picked up a thrilling five-game win over Northwestern (17-15, 10-10) on Friday night in a match that seesawed back and forth from the first serve to the final kill.
