Hockey season plagued with mixed performances

The Spartans celebrated as if they they had won an NCAA title, piling on top of each other on the boards adjacent to the Spartan bench. But they still had won a trophy: a 50-pound metal trophy called The Iron D. MSU laid claim to the newly inaugurated trophy in the hotly contested Duel in the D matchup. That harrowing effort was followed up with a 4-1 loss at the hands of U-M on Saturday. The Iron D might be the only trophy the MSU hockey team will have to show for their losing season.

Top 5 games: Tom Izzo vs. John Beilein

When No. 10 MSU heads to Ann Arbor Saturday to take on Michigan it will be the 16th meeting between MSU coach Tom Izzo and Michigan Coach John Beilein, with Izzo holding a 9-6 edge over the Michigan coach.

Meet Dr. C. Luke Wilcox: The New York Yankee turned surgeon

“With the 16th pick of the 22nd round, the Detroit Tigers select Christopher Luke Wilcox, outfielder from St. John’s High School.” Christopher Luke Wilcox himself heard a Detroit Tigers representative say those words on June 1, 1992. Playing for a hometown team like the Detroit Tigers must have been a dream come true, but Wilcox turned it down. He wasn’t ready for the big leagues yet.

MSU baseball looks forward to 2016 season

With baseball season right around the corner, the MSU baseball team is looking ambitious and is hoping to achieve success this season in the Big Ten.  The Spartans are looking to better last year's performance where they tied for third in the conference.
