MSU hockey jumps to No. 4 in USCHO and No. 3 in PairWise rankings during bye week

 Being sixth in the polls after a sweep of their in-state rivals, the Michigan Wolverines, the Spartans went to the bye week in high spirits, and even without play, the team continued to make big moves as the Spartans jumped to fourth place in both the USCHO and USA Hockey polls. This is the highest rank the Spartans have received in the polls since the team ranked third place back in their 2007 season.

After an 86-71 loss to Ohio State last Sunday and a 94-91 loss against Indiana the game prior, the Michigan State women's basketball team defeated its in-state rival 70-66 in an intense defensive battle inside the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor on Sunday, Feb. 18.

The Spartans held the Wolverines scoreless in the final 7:01 of play while scoring the final 10 points to eventually win 73-63, clinching a season sweep over their bitter rival for the first time since 2019 when MSU went 3-0 against Michigan.

Michigan State wrestling fell to No. 6 Ohio State this Friday by a score of 38-7 as the Spartans closed out their Big Ten season with a record of 2-6 in conference duals and placed 10th in the Big Ten conference.

‘Fearless’ MSU baseball team gears up for 2024 season

As a new season begins, high expectations continue for the team and a search for new hope begins as well. In 2023, the Spartans finished 33-22 and 12-12 in the Big Ten, as they placed seventh in the Big Ten, right behind the University of Michigan. MSU’s win total last season was the highest since winning 36 games in 2016.

Malik Hall tallied a career-high 29 points against Penn State on Wednesday night, 20 of which came in the second half. Hall finished the game going 10-for-13 from the field, a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line, three assists and grabbed ten rebounds.

 After a huge sweep for the first time since the 2019 season, the Spartans took down No. 14 Michigan and landed themselves tied at No. 5 in the USA Hockey polls, as well as No. 6 in the USCHO, jumping three spots from their previous No. 8 and No. 9 rankings, respectively.

The Michigan State wrestling team traveled to College Park, Md., to face the Terrapins this Sunday, ultimately being defeated by a score of 28-15. With the loss, the Spartans have now dropped two straight conference meets after having fallen to Indiana University last weekend.
