Lawyers release statement on behalf of softball head coach

In the midst of an investigation into softball assistant coach Jessica Bograkos and the program as a whole, a statement has now come on behalf of head coach Jacquie Joseph from her attorney Shirlee Bobryk’s of White, Schneider, Young & Chiodini. The statement opens with Bobryk stating that she would like to respond to the allegations made by former softball player Alyssa McBride that she was targeted with pitches after stating she wished she had played at another school due to the amount of losing she endured in her time at MSU. The bulk of the statement consists of two quotes from Joseph: "I have devoted my past 22 years as MSU head softball coach to guiding and mentoring student-athletes in the type of ideals, values and skills necessary to achieve success on the field, in their careers, and throughout their lives," the statement read.

Lea Foerster has showed promise in freshman season

For the MSU softball team, this season has been one that hasn't had many bright spots.  Freshman outfielder Lea Foerster has been one of those bright spots. Head coach Jacquie Joseph has noticed the improvement of Foester, and in a season where MSU has fallen to 16-29, including a 1-15 record in the conference. "I've been impressed with Lea since day one," she said.

Softball prepares to start season this weekend in Florida

Women's softball head coach Jacquie Joseph is her 22nd season as head coach of the team and after a recent stretch of disappointing play, she will be looking to get the team back on track.  The Spartans last winning season came in 2007 when MSU posted a record of 33-26, but since 2007 the results have not been favorable. In 2008 the team went 27-29, 21-28 in 2009, 21-31 in 2010, the team rebounded slightly in 2011 going .500 with a 27-27 record, but the team failed to build momentum from its performance in 2011 and finished 2012 with an 11-42 record the lowest amount of wins in Joseph's tenure.
