No fish tale could outdo Marlins year

Silence was all he heard. As Josh Beckett tagged out Jorge Posada and was lifted into the air in jubilation after his five-hit shutout performance sealed Game 6 and the World Series title for the Florida Marlins on Saturday night, the world stood mute as South Florida ran wild. The world was silenced partially because of shock, but mostly because so many felt wronged. How could this team come from 10 games below .500 after firing a manager earlier in the season and become the champions?

Bye week lets players relax

For one week, the football players will get to relax and act like normal students. Members of MSU's football team took advantage of their bye week by playing video games and catching up on some much-needed sleep. "I felt like a normal student, just kicking back having nothing to do," junior defensive tackle Matthias Askew said.

Sophomore middle leads 'U'

Three years ago, Megan Wallin made a long trip from the sunny state of Florida to the harsh climate of mid-Michigan in hopes of continuing her volleyball career. The sophomore middle is quickly becoming a premier player on a top 25 team - something she wasn't expected to do this early in her career. A standout at Cardinal-Mooney High School in Sarasota, Fla., Wallin led her team to a third-place finish her junior year and a second-place finish as a senior in 2000.

Spray-painted on the grass at Yankee Stadium are the words "The 2003 World Series." For the next week, the paint will continue to cover the natural green while the New York Yankees battle the Florida Marlins in the Fall Classic. The sight of the final two words freezes my mind.
