'Error' at UMass-Lowell boosts 'U' record

A mistake at a college hundreds of miles away has added another win to the MSU hockey team's record. In a written statement, UMass-Lowell officials said a transfer player appeared in nine games for the school before he was ruled eligible to play.

Swimming and diving teams sweep Oakland

MSU swimming and diving closed out its home season with wins from both the men's and women's teams over Oakland. En route to a 113-110 victory, the women took first in the 400-yard medley relay while sophomore Courtney Ellabarger captured the 200-yard breaststroke and sophomore Tesla Hughes won both the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle races. For the men's team, sophomores David Habel, Bryant Steele and Johan Sunryd each made a strong showing.

Milestone has Izzo considering future

When it comes to the expectations placed on college basketball coaches these days, perhaps Janet Jackson said it best with the title of her 1986 hit, "What Have You Done for Me Lately?" Coach Tom Izzo will have a chance to notch his 200th win as MSU's head coach against Iowa on Wednesday.

Seniors halt Spartans' streak

The Iowa Hawkeyes ended the MSU women's basketball team's six-game winning streak Sunday with a 78-67 upset at Breslin Center. "Iowa has two fantastic seniors and they showed what senior leadership is all about today," MSU head coach Joanne P.
