7th Heaven

Riding on a six-game winning streak, the No. 20 MSU men's basketball team made very few mistakes, committing a season-low of eight turnovers while forcing 19 in a 87-58 win over Northwestern on Saturday at Breslin Center. MSU (10-2 overall, 2-0 Big Ten) snapped the Wildcats' four-game winning streak while extending its own to seven games for the first time since the 2000-01 season, when MSU opened the season with 12 straight wins.

Team names new coach

The MSU athletic department named Cathy George, former Western Michigan volleyball head coach, to take the spot vacated by Chuck Erbe just one week ago due to retirement. "When you have a person almost in your backyard who meets and exceeds many of the qualifications we had set for the volleyball coach here, it's kind of a no-brainer," MSU Athletics Director Ron Mason said. Players react to coach's retirement

Just as the MSU volleyball players returned to normal after ending their season two weeks ago, they discovered Thursday head coach Chuck Erbe will not return next season. Bar lowered for men's hoops team

I think that my college eligibility runs out when I graduate Saturday. The odds of me finally getting my break and suiting up for the MSU hoops squad is minuscule at best, but that's the hand I've been dealt, and I'm going to cope. This means that I'll never play a minute of college basketball - I'll never get to set one screen, take one jump shot or get to pretend I'm Scott Skiles.

Howells' 3-point night ensures win, weekend split vs. Falcons

Bowling Green, Ohio - Lately, it has been feast or famine for the MSU hockey team. "I know our record's not very good, but honest to God, our quality of play has not been that bad," MSU head coach Rick Comley said.
