Michigan State hockey penalty kill unit shines in series against Canisius

While the Spartans made a valiant effort all around this weekend, winning the first game 6-3 and the second 4-3, one thing that stuck out the most for the squad was the efficiency of the penalty kill unit during the highly penalized series. There was a total of 56 Spartan penalty minutes between the two games, but MSU only allowed two goals on seventeen penalties and even garnered two short-handed goals.

It is no secret that the Michigan State Football team has struggled as of late on the field. After winning their first two games, the Spartans have dropped four straight, and the road doesn’t get much easier ahead. This week's task for MSU is the battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy, a primetime game against No. 2 ranked Michigan, and the players know what is at stake.

Despite blowing a second-half lead, MSU football finds some quarterback stability with Katin Houser

MSU football looked to a new leader of the offense in their 27-24 loss on the road to Rutgers this afternoon, but despite the loss, redshirt freshman Katin Houser didn’t disappoint in his first career start. He wasn’t perfect, throwing a couple of passes that had chances of being intercepted, but his three-touchdown performance should solidify him as the starter for the foreseeable future.
