Contenders beginning to emerge in NFL's Week 3

Week three of the NFL season was everything it was advertised to be. The winless teams laid everything on the line in an attempt to save their seasons, while the undefeated teams tried to prove their worth.

No. 15 Spartans open Big Ten play with 2-0 victory

There might not have been a movie made about him, but soccer players should be trying to bend it like Thompson. Senior midfielder Spencer Thompson scored his second corner kick goal of the season, as the No. 15 MSU men’s soccer team opened up Big Ten play with a 2-0 home victory against Northwestern on Sunday.

Big Ten, Big Opportunities

The No. 15 MSU men’s soccer team found some added motivation before the season began after the team was projected to finish fifth in the conference in a preseason poll. The Spartans are the highest-ranked team in the Big Ten in the top 25 poll and aren’t looking back, moving toward their goal of the 2010 Big Ten Championship.

Cousins beginning to find form

After Kirk Cousins started all but one game for the MSU football team last season, expectations were high for the junior quarterback heading into 2010. Three games into the new season though, it has been the MSU running game that has paced the Spartans and led them to a 3-0 start and No. 25 ranking in The Associated Press poll.

Flietstra anchoring Spartan defense

A student-athlete usually only gets four years to leave a mark on a program. Halfway through her junior season, goalkeeper Jill Flietstra is inching closer to becoming one of the best goalies in MSU women’s soccer history and leaving her own mark.
