Icers fall behind, can't recover in 5-3 loss

Marquette — Scoring first has become vital for the MSU hockey team. On numerous occasions, MSU head coach Rick Comley has said that when his team nets the first goal, they play much better. On Friday night, the Spartans were able to record the first goal of the game, but only 15 seconds later Northern Michigan answered to tie the game and never gave up the lead again en route to a dominating 5-3 victory over MSU at Berry Events Center.

Goran Suton had no idea what to expect when he first came to MSU in the summer of 2004. Although the now-senior center on the MSU men’s basketball team had attended Lansing Everett during the previous four years, the native of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina admitted he is still learning his way around the American lifestyle, let alone the college life.

As the MSU women’s basketball team prepares to face Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament today, it has the added bonus of getting an extra day off to watch the other teams play in the opening round. It’s a benefit of capturing the No. 2 seed on Sunday with a 57-55 win over Purdue.
