Officials arent telling truth

I’d like to comment on the official justifications of an undercover police officer investigating a student activist group last spring. One justification offered for this action was that group members participated in violent protests against the World Trade Organization, World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

Substances help society function

This letter is in response to “Alcohol can cause many nasty side effects” (SN 4/2). In his column, Craig Gunn has described a utopian society, which by its nature and the laws of thermodynamics (order-producing systems produce disorder), is inherently flawed.

A new law requiring doctors to report the names of domestic abusers is not a good idea. The law requires doctors to report the names, if known, of abusers or face misdemeanor charges.

Youre to blame for loss of championship game

So far in my life I’ve had two major disappointments. The first came when publishers rejected a pop-up book for children I had created called “Watch your eyes!” The second came this past weekend. Blame shared by walkers, motorists

As a student here at MSU I frequently walk to class, work and around Grand River Avenue - just like a majority of the other students here on campus. More than once I have witnessed a few close calls between people who are walking and people who are driving.

Police infiltration leads to silence

As a student activist at Yale University, I was tremendously disturbed to read Jeremy W. Steele’s article about police infiltration of the MSU affiliate of United Students Against Sweatshops (“Activist group exposes undercover officer,” SN 4/3). While police infiltration of student and other dissident groups has a long history in the United States, that infiltration has often ended in tragedy.

Columnist responds to e-mail from U

At the end of this column is a short byline explaining that, if you want to write to me, you can do so at kundiris@msu.edu. I’ve been writing this for a year, and in the process I’ve received close to 200 letters.
