Plea deal offered in alleged karaoke bar attack

Meng Long Li received an offer to reduce his charge to a one-year misdemeanor of aggravated assault. The charge makes Li's case so the maximum punishment is jail for a maximum one-year sentence, as opposed to the 10-year felony he is currently facing.

Fashion for the Fire pairs survivors of sexual assault and fashion designers

This Saturday, fashion designs inspired by the stories of sexual assault survivors will make an appearance in the Lansing community at Fashion for the Fire . These avant-garde designs were created by apparel and textile design seniors Katie Raynard and Anami Chan , who got to work alongside survivors of sexual assault to create clothing unlike any other. Last semester, Raynard and Chan had a class together, which is where they discovered they were both passionate about social justice issues. Soon after, Raynard invited Chan to be a part of Fashion for the Fire . Raynard had been working on the show since last spring.

A list of poetry events in East Lansing during poetry month

April is National Poetry Month, and there are plenty of events around campus for those who want to be involved. In addition to events in the community of East Lansing, the RCAH Center for Poetry has invited a series of Michigan poets to share their work and facilitate discussion throughout the month as part of their Spring Poetry Festival series.  April 7 Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the MSU Saudi Intercultural Exchange Club will be hosting this year's Arabic Poetry Night in the RCAH Theater, located in the basement of Snyder-Phillips Hall. In addition to poetry readings in Arabic, sociology professor Abdullah Alrebh will be speaking about poetry and its importance in Arabic culture. April 15 Terry Blackhawk will hold a discussion at 3 p.m.
