Student, adult CATA fares to rise

Local bus rides will become pricier in April. The Capital Area Transportation Authority Board of Directors voted Wednesday to increase fares by 25 percent for adults and 10 percent for student semester passes to balance budget costs.

MSU seeks loan increase for Dubai campus development

MSU in Dubai is seeking authorization for a $1.5 million increase to its loan maximum on the project, which officials said would allow for more flexibility in potential future expansion of the program. The MSU Board of Trustees will vote at its meeting Friday on whether to increase the loan maximum from $3.5 million to $5 million.

When Chris Uffman attended MSU he was a committed member of the MSU intercollegiate men’s bowling team. More than two years after graduating, Uffman’s love for the game drew him back to East Lansing to coach the MSU intercollegiate women’s team.

A Nikon D200 digital SLR camera and lens, valued at about $1,200, was stolen from the Snyder-Phillips Hall cafeteria between 1:30 and 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Respected theater professor dies

Frank C. Rutledge taught theater history, and he made theater history. Rutledge, 72, a faculty member of the Department of Theatre for 47 years, died Tuesday night after experiencing cardiac arrest.

Under the influenza

Cold sweat trickled down the back of medical technology sophomore Mike Hresko and ushered in an excruciating bout of the influenza. “There’s no way I would’ve made it to class,” said Hresko, who contracted the flu earlier this month and suffered through a fever, aches and chills. “I didn’t feel like eating or doing homework. I didn’t feel like doing anything.”
