ASMSU passes pro-LGBT bill after debate

At ASMSU's general assembly meeting on Oct. 18, a bill calling for ASMSU to advocate against the Food & Drug Administration’s current one-year deferral policy on blood donations for gay and bisexual men sparked argument among the general assembly and led to a recess in the middle of discussion. The bill finally passed after over 17 minutes of debate.

MIPSA to hold 2018 conference at MSU

The Department of Political Science will be hosting the Michigan Political Science Association (MIPSA) Conference for the association’s 50th annual conference Oct. 25 to Oct. 26 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.

New MSU dean of students position created

MSU is creating a "new dean of students and assistant provost for academic standards and student conduct" position, according to a university press release. The position will oversee student behavior and conduct, revise policies and processes and be a resource for students, faculty, and staff.

MSU nationally recognized for sustainability efforts

On Oct. 10, MSU was nationally recognized by the EPA with a 2018 Green Power Leadership Award. The award was received by MSU Director of Sustainability Amy Butler, and it acknowledges the work of America’s leading renewable power users and the work they are doing to foster a greener power market.
