9th annual MSU Science Festival seeks to celebrate science virtually through April

For the entire month, Michigan State and community partners will be virtually giving talks, demonstrations and hands-on experiments, Roxanne Truhn, coordinator of the Science Festival, said. “It’s to celebrate not only science, even though it’s called the Science Festival,” Truhn said. “It also celebrates science, technology, engineering, arts and math. So, we’re a STEAM festival.”

Undergraduate researchers reflect on work during the pandemic

Undergraduate students that were kept out of the lab had to be creative to stay engaged with their projects and continue to learn in a virtual environment. Jeremiah Hutson, a biochemistry and molecular biology sophomore working in a lab studying diabetic retinopathy, set up his own lab on his ping-pong table in his parent’s basement.
