Student group probing MSU college with Republican lawmaker’s blessing

The Young Americans for Freedom, a conservative student organization on campus, is investigating 11 College of Education courses by way of a Freedom of Information Act request. The student organization hopes to use responsive documents from the FOIA to prove that the college is pushing anti-white curriculum and limiting academic freedom. The probe is being aided by the group's national division, Young American's Foundation, and has the blessing of Republican legislators.

City council stalls public camping ban vote to March

East Lansing City Council further postponed the vote on a controversial public camping ban ordinance following increased pushback from homelessness advocates at a council meeting on Tuesday. The ordinance is part of East Lansing Police Chief Jen Brown’s attempt to introduce solutions to reduce violence downtown after unlawful pepper spray and Taser usage by city police officers during MSU’s Welcome Week.

MSU Museum’s second annual SciCurious invites guests to fall in love with science

This Valentine’s Day, MSU Museum invites its visitors to think about the world around them with its public outreach event, SciCurious, which presents attendees with an array of scientific collections, live specimens, and interactive activities. SciCurious is set to take place in the MSU Museum’s newly renovated building from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 14th. Anyone can attend, and although registration via the museum’s website is encouraged, it’s not required.

MSU board reinstates September meeting for 2026

Michigan State University’s Board of Trustees will host a sixth meeting this year, after voting to reduce the required annual number to five in 2024. MSU and its board have settled on hosting another private forum with university stakeholders in addition to the public meeting in September.
