Closures on I-96 between U.S. 127 and Okemos Road

Shoulder closures will be seen on westbound Interstate 96 between U.S. 127 and Okemos Road, starting the week of Oct. 3, for installation of median cable guardrails, according to a release from the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Parks survey

The East Lansing Department of Parks, Recreation and Arts is conducting a survey to obtain citizens’ opinions on local parks in an effort to make necessary improvements. “We are hoping that a number of residents who are interested in taking the survey will go and take it,” Parks and Recreation Advisory Director Tim McCaffrey said.

Tutors help students to succeed

When Chelsea Dombrow began tutoring a fifth-grade student last year, the student was only reading at a third-grade level. By the end of the year, the student not only was reading beyond her grade level, but she had come to love books.

Burglary trial moves forward

One of the two men accused of breaking into Hubbard Hall dorm rooms and stealing laptops was bound over to Ingham County’s 30th Judicial Circuit Court on Tuesday following his pretrial conference in East Lansing’s 54-B District Court.
