MSU’s Department of Police and Public safety– or MSUDPS– issued 97,585 parking citations in 2023, bringing in $1,375,686,62 to the university. The MSU Board of Trustees approved to raise parking violation fines early this summer yet this did not deter students from committing violations.
MSU announced its plans for the one-year anniversary of the Feb.13 shooting Friday morning. Plans for the day include a day of service, a remembrance event in the evening, and "reflective spaces" to be set up around campus.

Located just off Grand River Ave, the restaurant beckons with a tempting array of chicken-based meals, complemented by an assortment of sides and unique drinks. The fast-casual restaurant chain originated in California and established its sixth Michigan location in East Lansing. Although the official grand-opening festivities took place on Friday, the restaurant quietly opened its doors earlier.
A winter storm warning has been put in place by the National Weather Service and will remain in effect until 7 p.m. on Saturday. According to an NWS Urgent Winter Weather Message, a winter storm is heading toward west Michigan and is forecasted to start snowing shortly after 4 p.m. Friday afternoon. This storm is forecasted to bring anywhere from 8 in. to 13in of snowfall and wind gusting up to 50 mph. Windchill is expected to bring temperatures into the single digits.
Former MSU head football coach Mel Tucker has been denied his appeal of the university’s findings that he sexually harassed and exploited rape survivor and advocate Brenda Tracy, officially ending the university's year-long sexual harassment investigation of Tucker.

Students gathered outside the Hannah Administration Building on Monday to protest the reopening of Berkey Hall, one of the sites of the Feb. campus shooting that killed three and injured five. Monday marked the first day that classes have been held in the building since the shooting, which occurred nearly a year ago.
An external investigation was unable to identify anyone at MSU who leaked the identity of Brenda Tracy, the rape survivor and advocate who accused then-football coach Mel Tucker of sexual harassment.
NiCole Buchanan, a member of the organizing committee for the union of tenure stream faculty, said that “well over 54%” of the group have signed authorization cards indicating they want to join the union.
Students and survivors gathered to protest the MSU Board of Trustees meeting. Though the meeting was online, they were joined by trustee Dennis Denno and trustee Rema Vassar.
Hundreds of graduates and their loved ones gathered at the Breslin Center to celebrate for fall commencement to celebrate their accomplishments.
