Airbnb has a large market in East Lansing

 Airbnb is especially popular in East Lansing due to its low amount of hotel options available in comparison to other major college town cities, Watkins said. On the Airbnb site, an extensive number of listings in East Lansing advertise their proximity to Spartan Stadium and the campus in general.

Searching campus for all-gender bathrooms

MSU’s campus is home to 545 buildings. Of those, only 77 buildings have all-gender, private restrooms. Only 57 all-gender restrooms are wheelchair accessible. This can make life complicated for transgender, non-binary or disabled students.

Aly Raisman accuses Nassar of sexual abuse

 Aly Raisman, six-time Olympic medal winner and one of the biggest names in the sport of gymnastics, has accused ex-MSU and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar of sexual abuse. She is, so far, the highest profile gymnast to come forward with allegations.

MSU becomes 5th U.S. university accredited in emergency planning

In 2015, the MSU police department formed an advisory team to begin preparing for emergency plans in case of natural disaster or crises; today they’re the fifth higher education institution in the nation and second entity in the state of Michigan to become accredited in emergency planning.
