MSU employee among the fatal Kalamazoo bike crash victims
One of the victims of the June 7 bike crash, that killed five people and injured four in Kalamazoo County, was an MSU employee. Suzanne Sippel, age 56, was a data manager for the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station (KBS), MSU’s largest off-campus education complex that offers courses and research opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students in biology-related fields.

E.L. fire ordinance amended, granting time for those near fires to leave
East Lansing City Council passed Ordinance No. 1372 by a unanimous vote, effectively amending the section of the City’s Disorderly conduct code which prohibited persons to be within 300 feet of an open fire. The new ordinance effectively rids the previous ordinance’s vagueness, which had been a point of contention for many years since it was passed in 1999.

The East Lansing Police Department have found and recovered six pieces of artwork stolen during the East Lansing Art Festival. Police suspect that the work was primarily of an interrelated and intoxicated group, not an individual, a similar circumstance to previous vandalisms.
