Denzel Valentine will take Spartans to new heights next year, according to Tom Izzo

After losing to Duke in the Final Four round of the NCAA Tournament, junior guard Denzel Valentine vowed that MSU would return next season. Head coach Tom Izzo placed his faith in his captain during his end-of-season press conference on Thursday, saying he believes Valentine will help the Spartans live up to expectations next season. "He, I think, will take this team to new heights next year," Izzo said.

MSU baseball tops Michigan 4-2 at Comerica Park

On a beautiful Tuesday night in Detroit at Comerica Park, home of the Tigers, the baseball team the Michigan Wolverines by a score of. U-M was better early as the Wolverines starting pitcher junior Evan Hill retired the first seven MSU batters before a single from freshman outfielder Brandon Hughes with one out in the bottom of the third. Despite the strong start by Hill the Spartans were able to strike first.

Heavier police presence felt at area bars

Some student bar-goers on campus have noticed an increase in police presence in bars downtown recently, but ELPD retains it’s nothing out of the ordinary. “Basically, two cops walked in at Rick’s and spoke to the manager for a couple minutes, and on their way out, they asked two girls for their IDs, and ended up charging them,” finance sophomore Matt Luberto said about his experience last weekend.

It might take effort to find, but modern music is better than ever

You’ve probably heard it from your parents, or anyone from the Classic Rock era, that music today is disposable, or that it doesn’t hold the “timeless” quality that music from their era does. While most of these claims are biased and subjective, there may be some truth to them. It’s difficult to state what the sound of our generation is, or even to make the argument that many songs today will be heard more than a few years after their release date.

EDITORIAL: Body cameras on police the only logical choice

With tensions running especially high recently between citizens and police around the nation, both MSU and the cities of Lansing and East Lansing have ordered body cameras to be worn by its police force. But despite the cost and other uncertainties, this is the right decision by these departments, and one that, considering recent turmoil between citizens and police, seems like a no-brainer.

MSU Science Festival will return for its third year tomorrow

After visiting a science festival at the University of Cambridge, Renee Leone wanted to bring the same opportunities to explore and discuss scientific interests to MSU’s campus.  Leone, a teacher at Montessori Elementary Classrooms, drafted her own proposal for an MSU Science Festival and presented her vision directly to the faculty at various MSU colleges.
