Column: New Izzone ticket package not so bad

An editorial by the State News staff on Izzone ticket prices has been taking some major heat today by respected followers, so let’s all take a deep breath and clear the air. MSU students paid $170 for 12 games this past season, about $14 per game.

Trustee candidate seeks to cap MSU tuition

William Deary, CEO and co-founder of Great Lakes Caring Home Health, announced his candidacy for the MSU Board of Trustees last week.  Deary said he plans to work to cap MSU’s tuition and make college more affordable for students at MSU. He said looking at the cost for middle class families who have supported the university for years and want to send children to MSU, paying for their children's tuition is all but affordable. Deary attended MSU in '76 and MA '80.

Jewish students and community members reflect on the past year for Yom Kippur

While many students look forward to ushering in the new year on January 1st, for Jewish students, new year celebrations are already taking place.  Rosh Hashanah, the celebration of the new year in the Jewish faith, took place last week and as then ten day period between the holidays comes to an end, students are prepared to celebrate Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement.

Aaron Burbridge named Big Ten offensive player of the week

Senior wide receiver Aaron Burbridge has been named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week after career highs in receptions (8), yards (156) and touchdowns (3) against Air Force. Burbridge’s performance tied the MSU record for receiving touchdowns in a game and solidified his role as the Spartans’ top target. Burbridge, just three games into the season, has already broke his career high for total receiving yards and has amassed over 100 yards in each of the Spartans’ 2015 games. “You got to go out there with the confidence to know what you are doing,” Burbridge said after the game on Saturday.
