Professor "Robby" Ratan: the man behind the skateboard

Attending 8 a.m. lectures can be tough, especially if it's a topic that you're not very interested in. However, assistant professor Rabindra "Robby" Ratan, who teaches Intro to Media and Info Tech 101 in Wells Hall has changed the game when it comes to teaching his 8 a.m. lecture, simply by skateboarding.

Spartans fall to Lansing Lugnuts in Crosstown Showdown, 4-1

In the tenth annual Crosstown Showdown — an exhibition between the Michigan State University baseball team and the Lansing Lugnuts, the class-A Midwest League affiliate for the Toronto Blue Jays — ended in the Lugnuts’ favor, winning their fifth-straight matchup between the Spartans by a final score of 4-1 at Cooley Law School Stadium in downtown Lansing.

MSU moves up in USA Today Coaches Poll rankings

MSU will enter its bye week ranked No. 8 in the nation following the release of the USA Today Coaches Poll Tuesday afternoon. After starting the year ranked No. 11 in the coaches poll, MSU's harder-than-expected victory over Furman didn't cost them any slippage in large due to two top 10 teams falling in week one.

Student veteran reflects on MSU gold status

MSU Student Veterans of America President Kyle Kissinger said he was “surprised” when MSU was named a veteran-friendly school. MSU was awarded a gold status by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, MVAA, as part of their Veteran-Friendly School program on Aug 26.

Mike York rejoins MSU hockey team as student assistant

The MSU hockey team announced Wednesday that alum and two-time All-American, Mike York will be joining the MSU hockey team this season as a student assistant. York played at MSU from 1995-1999 and earned two All-American honors, and went on to spend 10 seasons in the National Hockey League. York is returning to MSU to finish his degree in communication.

Two MSU Students qualify for Team USA

After overcoming injury, kinesiology senior Spencer Shellberg and third-year veterinary student Elaine Sheikh have both qualified to run for Team USA. Sheikh qualified for Team USA in 2015 and will compete for them again this year on Sept. 15 and 19. In order to qualify, the athlete has to place in the top 20 for his or her age group at one of the national championship races.

Students shop for deals during the MSU surplus store move-in sale. The MSU surplus store has extended their hours this week as part of their move-in sale, and students taking advantage of the extra hours to hunt for bargains.
