MSU Board of Trustees approves budget for $46 million data center

On Thursday, September 8th, the MSU Board of Trustees officialized the budget for a $46,000,000 construction project, entitled “Data Center - Business Continuity and High Performance Computing.” “The facility will help us better support the ever-growing use of university technology, whether that be on research, education or outreach.” Associate Vice President of Information Technology and Interim Chief Information Officer Rob McCurdy said.

Remaining Park District buildings unlikely to be demolished by year's end

With new apartment buildings and businesses rising along Grand River Avenue, East Lansing has seen growth across its downtown. But students returned this fall to see the a lot of the blighted places still standing. Though windows and doors are still boarded up and the Thai Hut sign is still flaking off, Park District might see some progress in the coming months, although the buildings will likely stay standing by the end of 2016.

"Taking Back Detroit" displays the work of MSU Alumnae

The MSU Museum is currently hosting an exhibit called “Taking Back Detroit”, which is based off an article in National Geographic published in April 2015 and written by MSU Alumna, Susan Ager. It was first put together by MSU's College of Communication Arts and Sciences and ran from April 18, 2015 to May 10, 2015. It’s been in the MSU Museum since June 24, 2016 and will be displayed there until January 2017.

The Michigan State men's soccer team has been a brewing melting pot of prowess, shortcomings, and resilience three games into the regular season. And as the Spartans have hinted at both a superb season ahead and one that could be quite long, their real muster will tested on Friday afternoon, with the Big Ten regular season beginning with a home game against Rutgers.

MSU plans to use $1 million grant toward counseling services

MSU has received a $1 million grant in order to improve college counseling. The grant comes from the National Science Foundation and will be used to develop a system known as iSee. Researchers from the Colleges of Engineering and Communication Arts and Sciences, as well as the MSU Counseling Center, are contributing to the project.
