Matt Costello signs with Atlanta Hawks

One night was not enough for Michigan State graduating senior to achieve his NBA dreams. The following morning sufficed, however, as the Atlanta Hawks conducted their first business of the summer free agency when they signed Costello to a deal that will move him to Atlanta for the Summer League and training camp.

Chicago Bulls take Denzel Valentine

It's been a long road for the Lansing-native, but Denzel Valentine has finally reached the world's foremost basketball league. From the Lansing Sexton Big Reds to the Michigan State Spartans, Denzel Valentine will now slip on a Chicago Bulls jersey for the foreseeable future in the NBA.

Deyonta Davis drafted by Boston Celtics

It was a late night and a long wait for Deyonta Davis. For a projected lottery pick convinced to declare because of high draft expectations, it was hard to stay positive when the Boston Celtics selected him on what should have been a night laced with positive memories.

Grand Rapids-based band Desmond Jones started at MSU

A Grand Rapids-based rock/funk/jazz fusion band has had success with its Midwest tour so far this summer. Desmond Jones is no stranger to the Lansing music scene. A group of MSU students formed the group in 2012 and have since gradually established themselves as a nearly full time touring band.

Vinyl culture alive and well in East Lansing

In an era when newfangled music streaming services have contributed to the disintegration of albums and overall music purchasing is easily avoided, against all odds, vinyl culture thrives and prospers. Paradoxically, the only form of music acquisition that requires investment in an entire musical collection, let alone one that is bulky, potentially losable, and not preserved in some immortal, intangible “cloud,” is alive and flourishing.
