Election recount continues in Ingham County, across state

Despite an ongoing court battle, Michigan’s recount effort is underway. At the request of Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein, recounts are in progress or being disputed in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, three battleground states closely won by President-elect Donald Trump in the Nov. 8 election.

Spartans defeat Quinnipiac on the road, improve to 8-2 overall

The MSU women’s basketball team went on the road Tuesday to play Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. With a commanding win over Quinnipiac, the Spartans bring their season record to 8-2 overall. It was an all-around effort from the Spartans as senior captain and guard Tori Jankoska led the team with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds.

3 suspects at large following break in at Timberlake apartments

Three men were involved in a break-in at a residence in the Timberlake Apartment complex in East Lansing early Tuesday morning, East Lansing Police Department Sgt. Chad Pride said. Pride said the incident occurred at 3 a.m. on Tuesday and said the victim of the break-in indicated that the suspects had one weapon in their possession at the time of the crime.

DAPL rally at capitol celebrates victory

A Monday rally at the Capitol Building in solidarity with the Standing Rock Pipeline protests took on a different tone following the surprise Sunday night announcement that the Dakota Access Pipeline, or DAPL, would be rerouted. Despite the last-minute victory, many attended the Michigan Stands with Standing Rock event, originally intended to show solidarity on ‘eviction day,’ as protesters were told to leave their camp by Monday.

East Lansing holds annual Winter Glow

East Lansing’s annual Winter Glow took place this past Saturday from 2-5 p.m. Winter Glow was located in Ann Street Plaza, Fountain Square and inside the East Lansing Marriott.  The Winter Glow is provided by the City of East Lansing and is sponsored by the East Lansing Downtown Management Board, MSU Federal Credit Union and East Lansing Art Commission.  Students and local residents gathered to enjoy live ice carving and ice sculpture walk, free carriage rides, winter barnyard, special outdoor holiday farmer's markets, heated music tents, marshmallow roastings, hot chocolate, and more.
