Restaurants weigh in on impact of 50/50 ordinance

An ordinance that, in the event of relocation, would maintain the grandfathered status of four alcohol-serving restaurants currently exempt from East Lansing’s 50/50 rule is currently in the East Lansing City Council’s pipeline. A resolution setting a hearing to April 11 for Ordinance _, drafted at the request of Mayor Mark Meadows, is on council’s consent agenda for the Feb.

Council: Financing terms key to approval of newly proposed downtown projects

The City of East Lansing is now considering two major downtown developments, and whether or not they come to fruition will hinge on the financing terms requested by developers, city officials said. The newly-introduced $130 million Center City District project and the long-awaited Park District project, valued at _ in its last incarnation, will both be financed in part by tax increment financing, or TIF.
