On Sunday afternoon, the women’s basketball team had it's first close game of the season as sophomore guard Taryn McCutchen hit a floater with 24 seconds left to seal the deal in a 65-62 win over Western Michigan.

Big Ten play came a little early this year, but that didn't affect the Spartans much as they breezed past Nebraska in their conference opener, 86-57, Sunday afternoon at the Breslin Center.

FINAL: Women's hoops squeezes out win vs. Broncos 65-62
Bronco Jasmyn Walker had the ball at the top of the key, sized up her matchup, guard Taryn McCutcheon, then she drove the ball. A stumble and a turnover later, the buzzer sounded, and MSU women's hoops had the win, a 65-62 victory to halt a two-game losing streak.

On a packed Saturday night with a crowd of over 5,500 fans, No. 4-ranked Notre Dame defeated the Spartans 2-0. MSU falls to 7-8-1 on the season.

Volleyball will advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament after they beat No. 15 Creighton, 3-1, in the second round Saturday night.

Men’s soccer postseason run is now over, as they lost to the Indiana Hoosiers in a shootout in the Elite Eight, 4-2, after staying tied at 1-1 through 110 minutes in regulation.

FINAL: Hockey starts strong, but Irish pull away late as MSU falls 3-1
But it was the No.4-ranked Notre Dame that pulled away, scoring three unanswered, including the dagger with 2:18 left in the third period. The sellout crowd of 6,392 fans were mostly left disappointed — there were quite a few Notre Dame fans — with a 3-1 MSU loss.
