MSU hockey shuts down Michigan, climbs to top of Big Ten and nation

After dropping the series opener 4-3 in overtime, No. 2 Michigan State hockey faced No. 1 Michigan at Little Caesar’s Arena for their annual Duel in the D contest. The Spartans took an early lead that they built upon throughout the night. Despite giving up a couple goals, MSU's defense earned it a 5-2 victory. With the win, the Spartans take first place in the Big Ten standings, leading Michigan by just one point. The rivalry win was necessary for the Spartans to have a shot at regular-season conference champs.

MSU board talks immigration concerns, votes to renovate Wilson Hall

In the wake of immigration crackdowns on a national scale, Michigan State University’s first Board of Trustees meeting of the semester spent its opening minutes addressing students and faculty concerns, which dotted the public comment period. The meeting marked the turnover of several key MSU administrators, including a new board chair. Also approved at the meeting were renovations to an MSU dormitory, adding laboratories for an engineering program. Several trustees were physically absent from the meeting, with one not appearing virtually until over an hour-and-a-half into the meeting.

MSU President: 'Disappointed' by Trustee's essay demanding reinstatement of DEI

An opinion piece published by a Michigan State University Board of Trustees member has spurred tensions among the university’s administration. Trustee Rema Vassar, in an opinion essay published earlier this week, argued that MSU should walk back on many of its actions to dismantle Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts in compliance with federal directives.
