Alumni cook up ways to raise funds for new Sparty

East Lansing Public Schools will soon be looking for a new leader, as board members voted Monday night to terminate the superintendent's contract in one year.Thomas Giblin has served as superintendent for six years and Board members voted 4-3 in favor of forcing him to leave.

Mahbuba Fidda studied law in the Soviet Union, practiced in Afghanistan and now hopes to continue her studies by working toward a master's degree at the MSU-Detroit College of Law.Fidda is one of six international students to enter the new master's program that began this year.The program brought students from Lebanon, Egypt, Canada, Mexico, China and Afghanistan.

Tuesday evening was a pampering soiree for MSU research associates Gia Pham and Betsy Askin at the Douglas J Exchange "fun and beauty" night. As Pham chewed on a piece of quiche and Askin ate a chocolate-covered strawberry, they browsed the wall of sale products and contemplated whether to get a hair consultation. Lugnuts seal comeback win

Lansing - Lugnuts center fielder Felix Pie raced to home plate, sealing the team's 7-6 comeback win in the 10th inning over the Beloit Snappers in the opening game of the 2003 Midwest League Championship Series at Oldsmobile Park Tuesday night.With one out and runners at first and third, Brian Dopirak stepped to the plate, ripping a ball at Snappers third baseman Adam Heether.
