Who would have thought that the Spartans would walk out of Rutgers Stadium without a win? Sure, there was a lot of talk about all of Rutgers' returning starters and the improvement that the team has made in the last four years, but that game was inexcusable.
A truck traveling north on Chestnut Road early Wednesday morning jumped the curb and drove into the Red Cedar River. The red Chevrolet S-10 truck had a male driver, whose condition is unknown. Rueben Nair, a psychology sophomore, said he and two friends heard the truck hit the curb at Chestnut Road and Kalamazoo Street just after midnight. Nair said the three helped the driver out of his truck, which was submerged up to its headlights.
Beneath the shaded, rolling expanses of an 82-acre lot not far from campus, are many of the reasons MSU exists as the institution it is today. There, under oak and cedar trees, beneath aging obelisks and ornate headstones, lie some of the men whose names we base our daily lives around - usually without even realizing it.
Saginaw - First Lady Laura Bush spoke today to a small group of workers and Bush-Cheney supporters at the Mahar Tool Supply Company in Saginaw. I have an open confession - a disclaimer, if you must - I like country music about as much as I like physics.
My fear of approaching my mid-twenties was subdued last week when I attended "The Little Foxes." The only people that even came close to my age range were the few 10-year-old children of the actors and actresses, who spent most of the play in chairs kicking their feet where ground was supposed to be. Everyone else was, well... old. For most plays in the area, audiences are made up of older people - mostly those in their 60s or 70s. Although there is nothing wrong with an older audience, there is something wrong with younger people not participating in or watching theater. It might be tickets that range from $15 to $40, or possibly the indispensable time younger people can't seem to spare. It could be a preference issue - some people simply prefer other forms of entertainment.

A student majoring in film studies can walk away from MSU without ever having touched a movie camera. Film students can learn about film history, theory and criticism but, other than a single study abroad program, MSU offers little opportunity for the aspiring filmmaker. "Students - when they think about film, they want to make them," said Jennifer Fay, an assistant English professor and co-director of the film studies program.
Last weekend we went on a bar crawl, our own little "Tour de bar" East Lansing. The plan was to hit every downtown East Lansing drinking establishment in one night.
MSU's 150th anniversary celebration officially began Tuesday, and it's rewarding to see how a fledgling land-grant university founded by a mix of government scientists, bored University of Michigan kids and cows created one of the Big Ten's most formidable research institutions. You would not be here if it weren't for Wolverines who did not want to speak Greek, as history tells us that U-M students got fed up with classical education and being prohibited from joining secret societies.
MSU student and Orlando-area resident Tim Rascher saw the worst part of Hurricane Charley from a surfboard miles away. Storm clouds stacked into thick layers in the distance as he surfed with friends on a beach south of Daytona. He returned to his mom and his devastated neighborhood as Charley raged on and Hurricane Frances crawled to the coast. The third-year MSU College of Law student parked his car six blocks away from his house because of the debris.
To all members of my generation - be thankful. Our growth and development during the past 20-some years has directly corresponded to some of the best moments in cinematic history relative to our age. Take, for example, the golden era of Disney.
Hiroshi Tanimoto tried everything to keep his business afloat.
