There is no practice more inane, no tradition more vapid and no photo opportunity more whorish than the annual Thanksgiving "pardoning" of the White House turkey. Each Thanksgiving since the days of Harry Truman, the president "pardons" a turkey to a presumably pastoral life of pecking at the ground and looking at things around the farm or forest that move.

East Lansing and MSU police have become crazy with the number of minor in possession tickets they are willing to distribute when there are many other problems they could focus on. Police around campus want to blame drinking as the problem for numerous crimes committed on or near campus.

That is a turnaround from last season, when the offense was more one-dimensional, usually beating defenses with the pass. The MSU men's soccer team will travel to Tulsa for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament after coming off a stellar performance in the Big Ten Tournament. Major marathon held today in Bessey Hall

A Marathon of Majors will be held from 5-7 p.m. today on the first floor of Bessey Hall. Academic advisers from about 15 MSU colleges will be available to assist students in exploring majors, meeting major and college requirements, exploring internship and career information, transferring credits, studying abroad and tutoring options. Other groups, including the MSU Counseling Center and the Writing Center will also provide information. East Lansing residents and MSU students questioned the feasibility of redeveloping the Cedar Village area during the East Village Master Plan Team meeting on Wednesday night.
