Whether it's through a therapeutic ultrasound, an electrical stimulation, a balance beam or the innovative underwater treadmill, animal owners have called on the center's modern technology to get their pets back on their paws. "We get about five or six patients a day," said Patrick LeBlanc, director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, which houses the rehabilitation center.

Byrom's argument naive; NAACP far from racist

The column by Jessica Byrom used the most idiotic and naive claims to support its arguments in, "Affirmative action discriminates, not Proposal 2; move on already" (SN 11/21). I would like to start by saying I have no stance on this issue, but the fact that this column was printed infuriated me.

Pedestrian laws must change for our safety

Let's see if I have this right. When a Jeep, making a turn, runs down a pedestrian crossing the street, as one of those new timed walk signs is ticking down, it is the pedestrian's fault ("Getting hit by car is not my fault," SN 11/20). I have been complaining about pedestrian safety and right of way in East Lansing for many years, and unfortunately, this is typical.

Among the first items to be auctioned from the clubhouse: Cecil Fielder's artificial popcorn butter machine. Chadron State College running back Danny Woodhead set the NCAA single-season rushing record Saturday, finishing the season with 2,740 yards. Scouts at the game were amazed that they actually found the Chadron State campus. New Lothrop High School, which has just more than 800 students, captured its first ever state football championship Friday, beating Crystal Falls Forest Park in the Division 8 state finals. Internet message board posters immediately anointed New Lothrop head coach Jake Emmendorfer as the top candidate for the vacant MSU position.
